Drifting

Letting my thoughts drift while lounging on an uneventful but very informative sail of the coastal harbors this evening led me to gratitude: 3 years ago I had a suspended license & was barely getting by…now I’m a member of a boating club & am plotting career moves.

Reflecting further on this during my drive home as I passed a construction zone where I saw a shopping cart on the side of the road with blankets & other tell-tale signs…life can go so many, many different directions.

Perhaps I’ll never stake a claim to a sprawling waterfront mansion & a yacht…but perhaps I’ll never be reduced to wondering where my next meal or shelter will come from, either.

Work a little harder, spend a little less, save a little more, love all, hate none.  Being proud of self-definition is a success worth striving for.
