You Can’t Have Everything

You just can’t.  It’s not the way the world works.  I have to get up every day and walk around with a bunch of entitlement and privilege — both my own, and that which floods the $treets around me — and then somehow still find myself wishing for “more.”

At the same time, you can’t give away everything, either.  I’m a proponent of ‘loving enemies’ and ‘killing with kindness’…but I have to retain some for myself, too.  When the status quo harbors an every-man-for-himself narcissism, kindness towards others, regardless of their stature, is often misinterpreted as weakness.

Loving unconditionally is a challenge — albeit perhaps the best kind of challenge there is.

Because maybe if you have that, then you do have everything.
