Grateful Sunday #68: The Living

Gratitude

This was my inner monologue the last half-hour:

“Man I really need to get today’s blog post published so I can go grill some Polish sausages, on the grill station located a few dozen feet from the in-ground apartment courtyard pool I spent two and a half hours lounging at earlier this afternoon.  After I eat, I need to organize my camping gear for the music & arts festival I’m meeting some of my closest friends at in a couple weeks.  I could also just sit here a little longer and stream new music from the internet.”

My life is NOT difficult.  I may feel constantly ‘busy,’ but if I just take the ever-necessary Objective Step Back, 99% of my schedule is poised for enjoyment and positive activities, interactions, and events.

Honestly, even just sitting around doing nothing.  NOTHING.  Why is that so special to me?

Because I can do it without having to reach for a drink.  Yes: doing nothing sober is 100% of the time better than having to binge drink in order to do anything.

Grateful.
