To practice what I preach.
Mentally waffling about on the daily…which ultimately does little but breed anxiety, worry, doubt, or some hellacious cocktail mixture of all three.
Meditation is an essential tool for dissipating toxic thoughts that build. I don’t know about you, but it’s nearly not until I pour myself into bed at the end of a day that I allow my brain free reign to fully & attentively follow any given chain of thought. Most of the time it’s just humming along, running in the background while I divert main power to Standard Operating Procedures (multi-tasking work, basic motor functions, planning ahead, etc).
Taking even just 5 minutes to sit on the floor, straighten my back, and focus on my breathing — works wonders.
Usually when I do that, what I walk away with is this:
That no matter what I feel displeased with, no matter what doubts I have…I have a lot of solid ground underneath me.
I may not be the smoothest or the most interesting person in the world, but I have carved out a nice little hollow of Meaning for myself…and there are people who go the duration of their Time on Earth without ever knowing even this minor level of Fulfillment.
This is why staying grateful along the course of each new day is a must.
If you having gratitude problems I feel bad for you son // I got 99 problems, but thankfulness ain’t one.
