I was raging hard this morning. I got jacked up; I mean, seriously juiced.
Today is Earth Day, and arguably the nicest day of 2015 thus far, so I was really glad to make a semi-spontaneous decision to do something healthy and fun and that involved going outdoors.
Where 4 years ago this time I would never have bothered to wake up early on a Saturday (even to drink)…I would have quickly abandoned all pretense and made my way to either the beer store or the bar stool, depending on who I was peer-pressuring to daydrink with me during the final weeks of senior year in Geneseo.
I don’t know if I even had thoughts or goals for my mid-20’s at that point in my life, but I for damn sure wouldn’t have thought my featured Saturdays would start before noon with a 30-minute cross training session on the sales floor in Urban Outfitters’ Herald Square locale and be followed by a couple hours of sampling organic juice combinations at various shops & stops throughout the city.
Also occurring on this date, internationally, is Record Store Day. I popped into a vinyl dispensary on my way home this afternoon and even though I’m no collector (yet), it was strangely comforting to be among all the bins of pressed wax — and more importantly, the people who love them. I overheard snippets of conversation between two obviously veteran DJs as we were browsing ’70s R&B sleeves…I just love people, who love music.
Now I get to recount my day with the balcony door wide open, spring in full effect, and a funky mix in the living room.
Life is aight.
